Wall Street guys are in it for the money.  If they have a choice between world peace or arbitraging baby tears, they're going with whichever makes more money.
Hilarious. You know, in a depressing and tragic kind of way.

If we spent 10% of our defense budget on inventing the future we'd dominate the world in a way that completely exceeds anything we can currently imagine. And we'd be a force for good.

The green energy revolution seems to make sense.  If you look at how economies have recovered from past recessions, it's often due to a paradigm shift (ugh....consultant speak).  For example,

1920's --> buying stock on margin
Great Depression --> WWII
1981 --> personal computer
1995 --> internet
mid-2000's --> real estate
2008 -->  ??

Not all recoveries have great up-side, but seems to be progressively better.

Way more than that is already being spent inventing the future my friend. Way more.

In general, peeps can say what they want about Musk, but he's a most impressive person. His accomplishments are very large and he gets it moving quickly. His accomplishments stand to bring much needed, major change for the good. Not many get there, he has several areas he's changing quickly and successfully.

Giants like him are a blessing to society. Edison, et al " single handedly " changing the world, inventing the future and then bringing it to fruition.
