Hunter: 1/18/14

I made the trip up to Hunter on Saturday 1/18/14.  I knew that the place would be packed since it was Hunter on MLK Saturday.  My theory was definitely true when this was the first chair lineup.

We got on, went up and headed for Belt which is pictured here.

Next was Hellgate

The line started building at the six pack, so we went down Minya Konka to the F-Lift.  I got this picture on the way up looking into the valley.

After lapping East Side Drive and Minya Konka, it was over to West.

When we got down we were greeted with a snowless Annapurna and Westway.  Will they just blow these trails for once. (whine)

We skipped Clair's way because it sounded very icy.  We went back to the bottom took a few runs on D-Lift and had lunch.  Here I noticed that plenty of tour buses were at the mountain today.

After lunch the 6 pack line looked like this, so it was straight to D-Lift.

Then down to F-Lift.  It was really snowing when we went up.

We took a couple runs there and then went back to the bottom on Kennedy.

We then took some runs on the D-Lift.  I got this picture of the swimming pool at the Kaatskill Mountain Club.

The snow soon stopped during these runs.  After taking runs off D-Lift, we took F-Lift to the top again.  We were greeted with this line when we got there.

Minya Konka.  Little did I know, but I would see this run from a totally different perspective later that day.

We then decided to attempt Clair's Way.  It wasn't as icy as we thought.

After that we took Racer's Edge to the bottom.

Even the D-Lift had a line when we got down there.

Going up.

My dad soon called it a day and I skied the rest of the day out.  I took my last run on Hellgate.  I didn't take last chair today as the flag was already on when I skied down.

I unbooted and then got ready for my very special apres ski activity.  From here you can see that there was a band in the lodge, but I was not here for the band.

I took a groomer ride tonight.

This is me in the groomer.

First we went up Mossy Brook.

And then up Lower Crossover and Minya to the top.

I also got this other picture at the top.

And then we went back down.

We took a couple more laps and actually groomed the whole thing, and then went down Mossy brook to the bottom.

This was a great day of skiing despite the crowds and the groomer ride was one of the coolest experiences in my life.

Snoloco buddy... NOBODY BUT NOBODY appreciates your intense enthusiasm for our sport more than I do. NOBODY.

But break this thing up into separate TRs.

They sell the rides.  My parents gave me one for Christmas.  Information is here on how to get one.  http://http://www.huntermtn.com/huntermtn/info/mountain/snowcat_tours.aspx
