Hunter Conditions (2012-2013)

Totally belive it, know someone who went today, they said it was an absolute mob scene. With all the snow in NYC, people think to go skiing, and as anyone in NYC metro knows Hunter is where NYC people go skiing(those who don't ski more than a few times a year)

Any word on present conditions? Thinking of going up this weekend

Should be pretty good, but the place is going to be a total zoo. The blizzard in the city got people thinking about skiing, and combined with the fact that it's a holiday weekend/NYC school vacation and you get a recipie for disaster.

I'm thinking of going up sunday and not concerned as much about the crowds as I am the melt/freeze cycle with upcoming weather. How's snow cover?

Was great last weekend, they had probably a five foot plus base, so they should have been OK in the thaw, and will be running the guns like crazy to get ready for the holiday week.

Skied Friday good if Springlike , My daughter skied Saturday, got a few inches of snow and with judicious grooming said it was pretty good, SnowGuns are going so Monday should be fine, and less crowded.

Skied Hunter today, Sunday Mar 17, St patty's Day.
Conditions were excellent groomed cord that softened up nicely throughout the day. The skiing was fast. There were no crowds.

Hunter was good yesterday. The trails have a lot of cover. April 6th is the tentative closing date. Get after it!

Just got back form Hunter..Fantastic conditons, some of the sweetest carving conditions i have experienced in years..Clair's was brilliant..

Just my daughter and about 100 of our friends..

So true, I couldn't believe Hunter on Thursday 21st, just incredible, everything open on the front, Clair's and Wayout on the back, all good, bumps alittle hard but it really didn't warm up on the mountain , which was ok , as the snow didn't need the sun and it portends a good few days. They should be fine  right thru Easter week.

Another perfect day at Hunter..Around 10am the mountain turned into corn heaven..The West side never really softened up . Coverage is still unreal for this late in March..

Back at Hunter again, it just keeps getting better..This was my 4th day of skiing over the last 7 days. What a tremendous week. Blue skies  , warm temps and enough people so you didn't feel lonely..

Great day on the hill yesterday. The forecast called for overcast skies and a possibility of rain showers, but sunshine dominated most of the day. The wind was howling! Thankfully it did not interfere with lift operations.

Temperatures quickly rose into the fifties softening up the entire hill. Everything skied great so no clear winner for ROTD. Claire's was probably the only run that wasn't memorable. It was a bit scratchy with wide, scraped-down patches punctuated with widely spaced "push-piles".

As others have said, coverage is great for this time of year. Bare spots are relatively minimal, and key runs are deep. The high temperatures this week will take a bite out of the snow pack, but skiing could be good into next weekend. However, I'm content making this my last day of the season. Already looking forward to next year...
