James and Jason actually rode one of the first Hunter Ziplines when it opened this summer.

From Jess this am at Hunter:

Longest & highest zipline and canopy tour to open at Hunter Mountain in December 2010

Skyrider Tour takes guests 600' above ground, with ziplines of over 3000 ft.

Hunter, NY - Coming off a hugely successful first season of operation, NY Zipline Adventures at Hunter Mountain is poised to raise the bar for adventure tours this winter with the opening of the largest zipline course in North America.  Two of the three planned courses opened at the Hunter Mountain location this spring to rave reviews and sold out tours while the third and largest, the Skyrider Tour, completed construction. Over 12,000 guests have cycled through the Mid Mountain Tour and Adventure Tower since opening.

"The Mid Mountain Tour and Adventure Tower are both great introductions to Ziplining and ropes courses, and a good way to get some people ready for the upcoming Skyrider Tour" explains Bradd Morse, partner in NY Zipline Adventures, the company that operates the Zipline tours at this popular New York ski resort.  "The three courses here at Hunter Mountain contain multiple Ziplines, bridges and challenge elements and are each designed to create a very different experience for the guest, but the Skyrider tour is not for everyone" says Morse. "Honestly, the Mid Mountain Tour and Adventure Tower are plenty of excitement for most people".  With heights of up to 600' feet above the ground and some Ziplines spanning over 3000' from platform to platform, he's not kidding. The Skyrider course will be one of the largest and most intimidating tours of its kind in the world.

Morse continues, "The construction of a course on this scale has been a massive undertaking, but now with our three different tours, we'll be able to offer something for almost every thrill level - from mild to extremely wild. The fact that we are so close to the metro area also means that we are able to operate year round.  It's a great partnership and we are really excited to bring this world class attraction to New York."

600 ft high!!!!! They should call that TV show were the guy goes around trying out extreme rides. He would come and do a show on their new zip line. Great publicity for them.

Four gas purchases at Getty or Lukoil gets you a Sun-Fri non-Holiday ticket at Hunter.  Who can beat that?

Yesterday the 6 did not run until 12:15. The wind at the top was intense. It seemed to jerk the big chairs more with more people on the chair. The chair is fast and smooth and comfortable. Loading on a "ski right on the lift day" was a little funky with the gates. I wonder if they can leave them open on less crowded days. Before the 6 opened you took the B lift to the F lift.
The skiing was great considering there was no snow just a few days ago. The upper part of Hellgate was typical - skied off crust down the middle combined with some piles of snow(by 10:30). A little farther down the skiers left had a little bump run in the gully and skiers right had cookies that did not break up all day. There was no snow blowing on Hellgate. Broadway had a couple of snow cannons pumping some silky powder. This was the best part of the run all day. Kennedy Drive was hard pack but loaded with some fun whales.
In the afternoon the temp at the top was about 12 degrees. The snowmaking at the top was dry and powdery. The snowmaking at the bottom was wetter and stuck to your goggles. There were flurries all day but it did not seem to add anything to the conditions.

Once again Hunter delivers a great day.

Dec 10..
Hunter was fantastic today. I can't say enough about Hunters snowmaking crew. 75% of the front side is opened and they opened the Westside around noon..

Everyone has said made a big deal about the new 6 pack..The biggest change was the removal of the TROUGH URINAL in the mens room.. This is a iconic piece of porcelain..How dare they remove this !!!!!!
