Hunter to test snowmaking system this week

snoloco
Today I went to Hunter to pick up my pass.  I also took the lift up and did the fire tower hike.  I asked when they planned on opening and when they planned on starting snowmaking.  They said that they would start testing this week.  Ski season is fast approaching.  Not sure whether to put this in the summer sports forum or in the woodstove.  I put it here because of the part about the snowmaking tests.  Some pictures from the hike are below.

The fire tower.

View of the ski area from inside the fire tower.

Another fire tower view.

View down Westway.

Another view down Westway.

Another F-Lift view.

The next time I am at Hunter I will be skiing.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

I would have posted the info on snowmaking in the Hunter Conditions thread and this great summer TR in summer sports.

Hey it's all good.

Great pictures snoloco.

The fire tower is on the other side of Hunter Mountain, at the true summit.

How long did it take you to hike to the tower?
I walked straight up the  mainline to Hellgate to the summit this summer..
The place was packed with Hasidic jews.. go figure

There are two trail heads to Hunter from Route 213.  From the Becker Hollow trail head, it's around 2200 feet of vertical in 2 miles before you reach the summit.  You could also go from the Devil's Tombstone campground, I believe it would be a little longer.
