Ha, looks like a typical day on the Green Mountain Flyer at JPR!

Seriously, I have come close to hitting a tower on that lift, usually just before it finally goes on wind hold.

Peculiar why the up chairs are virtually stationary and down chairs are flippin out?  Skeptic in me says it may have been altered but maybe not:

Maybe wind direction with the down chairs catching the wind better

I was thinkin the same thing.

I was wondering if maybe the cable can rotate in the unwind (read whined not wind) more easily?

If you know what I mean.

Ghost riders ? Yea, that's it.

I wondered the same thing. The difference is striking. It appears as though the wind is approaching on a slight uphill angle and the seats on the chairs facing downhill are scooping more wind. The seats on the downhill chairs are windward and the seats on the uphill chairs are leeward.

Anyway, the ghosts are......3 sheets to the wind.

Wind being forced downward on seat bench. Not so much in other direction

One time when I was riding the Skyeship Gondola at Killington on a very windy day a cabin almost hit a tower.  It was on stage 2 just above the top of the Skye Peak Express.  I looked up towards the top and a huge gust of wind came whipping up Skyeburst.  The cabin opposite mine swung violently inward and came about a foot away from hitting the tower.  Surprisingly, the gondola was running that entire day at the full 1,200 fpm as always.  They did not slow it for wind.  This video puts the experience above to shame.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

When I was at Killington back in December I noticed that they had put some new wind fences in to protect the skyship.  Killington and Pico both use wind fences fairly often and it would seem effectively to combat cross wind issues with lifts.

I wonder if that would help solve the issue on the Whiteface Gondi at the mid point.  Put a big wind fence on top of that little knoll that the Gondi crosses that is the problem spot.  The APA might not like it but it is a pretty cheap option to try to improve how that lift runs in cross winds.
