Indoor Climbing Shoes for a Beginner?

Anyone have any recommendations for a newbie, who will be exclusively in the gym?  Brands, laces vs velcro, what else do I need to consider?

I decided velcro was easier to deal with for my second pair of climbing shoes.  My climbing gym gave members a new pair of shoes in Dec if they wanted for a few years.  My first pair had laces.  I'm an older intermediate climber who does it for fun and exercise.  Mostly indoors in NC, but get to do a little outdoors with friends in the ADKS.

Decide before buying shoes what you are going to have on your feet in terms of socks.

whatever fits ie "non-aggressive"

I like velcro because it comes off quicker, at least that's what i told my gf.
