Inversion

Saw some other people skied on Monday and got some good pics of the inversion. I'm at Killington this week and it was pretty awesome here:

Very cool. The best part is the ooohs and ahhhs of people emerging from the clouds on their chairlift ride.

Coach, Anybody,,,,,, Rams and Pico ok,,,,, But what are the hills on the center horizon ? Are those ADK high peaks ? With Pico being nigh 4,000 ft tall, those distant mountains would have to be of similar/greater height. Mt Marcy ? Looks like there's a " treeline " on them.

When you are looking at Pico from Killington you are looking straight north

The nearer one to the left is around Brandon or Middlebury but I'm not sure of the name of the peak

The farther ones are Lincoln and Mt Ellen ie Sugarbush then Camels Hump

Adk Jeff
Nice pics Matt!  What a treat to be in the mountains on a day like that.  It was dull gray all day down here in the flatlands.  Apparently the inversion gave rise to similar conditions across the Northeast on Monday.  Here are some (ok, a lot of) pics from the Whites: Hiking in the White Mountains and Adirondacks.  Facebook photos from Gore showed a similar inversion.

Coach is right: that's Mounts Ellen and Abraham and Camel's Hump.

I'll say. That's wicked cool when that happens. Skied lower mtn Gore for a couple hrs once, it was all heavy overcast grey. Made it over to the High peaks chair and when it crossed Open Pit on the way up, Ta Da ! we emerged into all sunshine. Very cool experience.
