It won't be as good as a Mountain with more fire power.

This is my prediction:  Xmas week, West Mountain will have the best surface in NY, better than Southern Vermont. That's crazy, but this is where we are.

That's based completely on water supply.  It's been so dry that only the mountains that have very good water supply will be able to make enough snow.   West is on the Hudson River below Corinthe.  It's the best water supply in North America.

Skied it last weekend, very quiet on Sunday, even with a handful of trails, certainly more than enough terrain for the first (or second) weekend of the year.   Those are long runs!  Go for it.

No. I really think water will be the limiting factor for the next week or so.  mm

Albany had one of its driest November ever. The alcove and coxsackie reservoirs are way down. Hunter exceeds its water permits even in good years, and this hasn't been a good year for rain. Don't be surprised if there's less snowmaking than you expect based on temperatures. mm

I think 4 feet is about normal for the Hudson in North Creek.  Not positive about that.

The trails that are open are skiing as good as they are going to get without a big dump.   More terrain going to be opening almost daily now for a while.
