It Was Great While It Lasted

All of this cold weather we are getting will be going away and replaced with 50 degree weather and r*in.  So much snowmaking money wasted.  Since all of the natural in the flatlands will melt, it will kill business for MLK weekend.  This season started out so hopeful, but now it is looking similar to what we had 2 years ago in 11/12.  Seems like we are getting weekly r*in events now.  Oh well, good thing I have Six Flags passes in case it all ends early.

Snoloco! C'mon kid! It is only January 8th and you already have more days in then many people get in a season.  You have to think positive.  The winter is young.

Time for stories about the Valentine's Day Storm.  No snow that year until 2/14 and the season was actually decent.

Seriously... Too young to be so pessimistic. Wait until you're older to get cynical and depressed. Nobody wants to hang around with a 15 year old version of Benny.

Ya, we have not even started yet.  Your skiing the east, its never perfect!  Part of the game is playing the conditions.  We have had huge dumpers come in March around here.  2 years ago was actually still a decent season, I skied 26 days and most of them were good.  Next year get yourself a car with a large back seat and a season pass to a mountain up north.  If it really annoys you to play the game, up north tends to hold snow a bit better due to the altitude.  The mountains are just getting going...

I grew up skiing in the midwest... trust me... it could be MUCH worse.  

Keep the faith, four more months of skiing ahead, Killington barely missed being open in June last year!

that said this weekend looks wet..

I figured the kid was over reacting so I went to looked up Accuweather's month forecast for Vernon, NJ.  I now have to say that since his ski world revolves on Mt Creek and there is not one day time snow making temp in the forecast between now and the end of Feb.  The lowest high temp is 27 and that is tommorrow.  They will blow some at night for sure but when the day time highs are not going to make things good down there.  They might not make President's day down there.

Time to head north.

weather peeps cant predict the temps for next week let alone next month!  

and another thing, we are gonna get blasted mid season on!  I can feel it in my bones!  

I can remember a year in the early 80's when I went to Killington for President's week. When we got there, there were SEVEN trails open. Over the next two days, they got close to three feet of snow, so there's always hope!

Skied Platty today.  Hard to go wrong for $12. A bit of a let down after last weekend as all the natural snow trails are closed.  Website says 22 trails open - try 9.

Wait a minute ... were you on the SVHS trip ... the one with all the bus problems?

I went with a group from Pearl River...

Just looked at Open Snow.  The forecast for this next week looks pretty dire.
