Headed up to Mad River bitches. Enjoy your cubicles.
8-9" this weekend. Stayed below freezing and still packed powder. Day 78. A shout out to Snocountry for the free MRG tickets! 5 people beat us to first chair on the double. Looks like we have the place to ourselves. The main reason midweek skiing rocks. Looks like some powdery bumps to play on. Some soft fresh groomers for the moguly-challenged. Who said they wouldn't trade places? Conditions are awesome packed powder and fresh powder. Only ice is down low but, very edgeable. Now to head up the single and hit Paradise. Some powder stashes. Think we found 18th and 19th hole far skier's right off the single chair. Lots of traversing to the point we felt like we may be headed around the backside of the mountain. But, eventually were rewarded with deep coatings of mostly untouched powder before we traversed back and up hill to the base. Here, if you see side steps going up hill seems like it's a good sign and you should follow it. Sorry, all out of corn. Some action shots for Matt. Think this was the first time we ever ran into Craigs run. After lunch, it started snowing. No rain here, just refills the rest of the day. Got to test out my new Sick Days 110 underfoot/186 length on some serious terrain today. The snow kept up after lunch and team core continued to tear it up, making sure to hit the single chair lift line. Late in the day we came across a park with two natural wood features. I was just thinking that I didn't think they had a park and then we popped into one. It took 4 days at Mad River to figure out they did. Hit both wood features and never went back. A great day at the mountain. Join me next time from the comfort of your cubicles. |

See, this is why people are cranky with you. You're heading to MRG midweek. Great, but don't rub it in everyone's face.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

No, I have no issue whatsoever with Glade or anyone else skiing midweek while I'm at work. In fact I think it's great. What I don't like is being called a bitch, and for that reason I won't (and haven't for a long time) engage with Glade Runner or any other troll here. That's the last I'll be checking this thread (or pretty much any other started by Glade). |
this, except admittedly scroll through if there's decent pics |
I'm surprisingly okay with being trash talked at my cubicle and being called a bitch.
But I find GR's reports to be sad because none of his pictures include the people he's skiing with or any visible fun being had. Yeah, some of the spots look cool, but I like skiing pics with actual skiers in them (excepting a few really awesome shots of scenic vistas or shit-your-pants terrain in places I haven't been). The best pictures make you think "I wish I was there" and his pics never seem to do that for me. I'd like to go to MRG, but for reasons other than these bland pics. |

I like getting content in the first post.
EDIT: I dig the midweek posts too. Post the pics bigger! I think eventually sno will come around. I don't have a cubicle. I work in a van down by the river. Sorta.

If you didn't end up at the Mad River Barn, you were not on the 19th Hole. That starts near the end of L.A. and goes to the Barn well down Route 17 from MRG (no way back without a car or skins). If you traversed way out then traversed way back, you were on the 20th. Pretty sweet out there.
I was at MRG on Saturday, pretty decent with 3" of new but it fell on thaw/freeze hard pack and the lower mountain was slick. I imagine it was significantly better by the time you got there and their three day total up to 9".

Conditions were just about the same without the blue skies. Very good on the slopes snow wise. But, I had to consider the availability of the others in my party and Tuesday wasn't an option.

I was kind of kidding with the video and audio of some dude scratching down the mountain. Maybe the audio should get omitted from that top 10 day report
|
funny. i noticed the same thing earlier in the year on one of there reports. i understand the marketing angle and it also looked good that day. the sound tells a lot |
Was the same on Chute on Saturday when I was there but the woods were spectacular. Perhaps it was a bad juxtaposition of words with conditions on Chute. They have gotten a lot more snow since Saturday and I would rank this past Saturday as an above average day for me this season, it was pretty good. But Chute sucked the one time I skied it, Cat Bowl same. The goods are in the woods.

Cool thanks for the info. I will be looking into going farther out next time and possibly parking a car down below. For a while, the way the traverse seemed to cut around the backside of the mountain we were concerned we might end up at Mt Ellen. What is L.A. by the way? |

That's what I was thinking. Eric is pretty committed to getting the video snow report done every day and may not have time to do more than ride the lift. MRG is known for being pretty legit with their reporting.

LA = Lower Antelope. It isn't worth a car spot, IMO, just traverse back.
