Marker Duke 18 Pro

Anybody here badass enough to crank their bindings all the way to 18?

It would be interesting to see how high a DIN would have to be before the weaker of the two points was the screws that held the binding to the ski.

To answer your question, I found that 12 was enough to f*** your knees up a bit.

Cranking down is buckling all the buckles. If it gets really hairy I take it out of walk mode.

I think it’s time for you to try alpine, Harv. I’m gonna bring extra skis and boots next time we ski together.

I skied with green springs from about 1998 through 2007. I used to keep em around 17. We always figured that if you were on steep no fall zone terrain that the risk of blowing a knee was a lot more acceptable than the risk of blowing a shoe while over serious exposure and mandatory air lines. These days 13 or 14 seems perfect but I sure ain’t trying to be a hero or anything.

I have seen some of the videos so I don’t blame you for cranking your bindings down. Did you ever crash hard enough to eject at 17?

Oh yes. It would push my knees right to the limit before I ejected. Probably not a great idea at this age. I keep em around 13 now.

Damn. I hope you had a mouth guard in. Ever bite your tongue on impact?

No but I’ve smashed my face real good a couple of times.

4 broken noses and a orbital skull fracture.

I guess I wasn’t as good as I like to remember but for a few years I went for it anyways.
