On a scale with Mountain Creek being the most easternlike and western skiing on the other, Jay Peak falls way closer to the Mountain Creek side. Also at :43 in the second video, the wind looks to be blowing all the powder away. I also noticed that none of the powder shots in either video are taken on an actual trail, and are only in the tight trees. Don't want to sound too Powass, but he was correct here.
Have you been to Jay more than once?
And you've been out west once.
Dude - quiet down and listen to those who have more experience once in a while. You seem like an ok kid, but you really don't have that much experience - and you won't understand that until you do.
Guess what? Some of the best skiing in the west is in the trees too. We skied Brighton twice last year and found great powder stashes in the trees even two days after a storm. Winter Park has some of the most fun tree skiing I've ever had. Even Deer VAlley - which a lot of people love to hate - has some fantastic tree skiing if you know where to look - and it's usually very lightly skied. If you don't learn to go off trail you are missing out on a lot.
As for crowds, I've skied a lot of places in the east and quite a few in the west, and I have never seen anything like the lineup at Alta on a big powder day. It's a freakin mob scene.
