I received same day stem cells and prp treatment for a torn acl and severe osteoarthritis the last week of July. My left knee is the damged one. One month later, knees are now close to same size with minimum swelling . The degree my left knee can now bend is surprising. Do not feel any strength and cartilage has been added , too early to tell. Going to wait till December to test it out skiing.
Want to spend special time with your children, teach them to ski or snowboard. The reward will be endless!

Just chiming in to wish you well on the recovery and the PT. My gut tells me you'll be fine.
My grandmother (who just turned 93) just had kneww surgery and she's moving around better than she has in years. She's not a skier, but, as other people have said on this thread, 73 is young. Plenty of good ski years ahead of you. During the recovery, maybe it'd be a good time to do a little more XC skiing, just to get out in the snow and play. |
It's going to take more than a temporary bum hip to keep Warp Daddy down.
You'll just have to temper your shoulder-high leg kicks when you're cranking out AC/DC on your Gibson. Fast recovery, my friend.
It's funny how fallin' feels like flyin', even for a little while

SBR yeah Thanx , i sure didn't mean size wise , i was referring to his inability to stand up (lost a leg ) and thus has to sit while playing and use. His effects boxes off at table rather than the floor .

Great photos of one of my favorite musicians. He was the reason I bought a Flying V way back when:

this thread has taken an interesting twist... no one has a good shot of John Oates skiing? Cause I could go for that!

Man, sorry I'm late showing up to channel +++++vibes++++++ your way WD... I've always looked up at you as an example of how to stay stoked on skiing... (And how to keep a rational mindset when participating in occaisionly turbulent Internet discussion boards.. ). Please keep us included over the duration... You WILL ski again...

Okay small thing for most but for me it was a great feeling . bEcause of the open heart surgery 6 yrs ago i had to do a echo stress test to check the heart before surgery . tHe last time i did this on a tread mill and had great results BUT this time due to the hip pain they auggested a chemical induced stress test . Never one to want to give up control and preferring the tread mill test since it was active rather than passive , i was nervous .
Good news the heart is great , no blockages at all, strong oxy and bp levels , hit and sustained the target heart rate with zero issues SO it was a huge relief to know that the heart after six and half yrs is still very strong ......thanks to being a gym rat and the cardio necessary for skiing .. Next step .....surgery on the 12 th .. BTW my surgeon who has done these for several decades with very strong outcomes and being a skier totally GETS that I am planning to be back at it next season . He also said i will let you drive whenever you feel ready .....BRING IT.
