Would love to know more about this.  Did they go under because they're generalists, rather than e.g. a ski specialist school like SMS or GMVS?

Lots of competition - I imagine with the North Woods School it was hard to attract students.

They have not had a alpine skiing program in 3 years.  They let Dave Wenn go 3 years ago and then all the other alpine coaches left and that was the beginning of the end.  They tried to make a go of it with just hockey and some other athletes in XC and sledding sports.

Academically it couldn't compete with Northwood and was more of a winter term type school.

Let me get this straight.  NSA is next to the baddest mountain in the east and had no alpine program?  Sounds like a candidate for the Darwin Award.

Yes Dave Wenn started NSA but then he was driven out as head master for reasons I cant begin to comprehend  3 or 4 years ago. That killed the alpine skiing program and led to its demise a few years later.  

The upshot of that was that Nysef got Beatty Schuller from NSA and she has made the u12 and younger program the best in NY in that time.  My son benefitted in a big way from working with Beatty.

My take is that what could have saved NSA would have been to focus on a free ride ski program to replace the Alpine program which would have set it apart where it was not competing with Northwood.

Dave Wenn was a Greek Peak guy back in the day. Some of our best local skiers went to school there because of him. I really don't know Dave all that well but those who do say he is a great guy.

Oh I'd pay to see campy get to meet this glade runner a hole.  I'm not a small guy and Camp makes me look like the JV.  I would not want get on his bad side in a dark alley.

Camp to your point Dave Wenn is one of the top race coaches in the country.  He is the rare USSA level 400 coach and also a Psia examiner.  PSIA uses him as a team selector for the demo team try outs.  West is so lucky to have him after his  2 year stint at Vails race program post NSA.

+1 to Dave Wenn being a great coach and GladeRunner being an asshole.

I believe that is all of them, at this time.

That's cool!! Dave went to SUNY Cortland here in town prolly 35ish years ago, that was his connection with Greek Peak. He taught skiing here as well coaching. A lot of people credit him for Greek's race program. Believe it or not we've had some damn good racers come from this little hill.

Coach , i too would pay to see Campy open up a can of  Whoop Ass on this jackwagon  loudmouth .  Campy was a friggen aircraft carrier in da paint as a hoopster and knows how to handle himself ........

There are def rules tho Warp.....no spinning, and 5 man goals do not count. Other than that all bets are off
