I've been riding motorcycles for decades. I used to think it was more of the individual's freedom of choice to wear a helmet or not. Then I saw a 60 Minutes segment about States that didn't have helmet laws and how those States have to pay tens of millions keeping motorcycle crash victims alive for decades on life support. That makes it more than just an the individual's decision as it effects many others.

Yes, I wear an Aerostich suit on long rides and commuting and full face helmet all the time.   I am always amused by the squids on the sport bikes with full face helmet, t shirts and shorts, with female pillions similarly attired as they weave and wheelie through traffic.   When they crash the EMTs call it a PB&J sandwich.

Oh, yeah, another reason to wear your gear. This guy was lucky and rode his Triumph home.

The bigger problem is that people driving cars aren't thinking to look for motorcycles. I'm not sure of the numbers, but I'm willing to bet a lot more of motorcycle fatalities are from cars pulling out in front of people. You could be one of the safest riders and still be killed.

I'd love to get a motorcycle, but I'm scared shitless of that. I know of way too many people who have been killed that way.
