Fun article for Plattekill fans.  Pretty sure I met the author at the SANY event. The woman I met was working on an article focusing on the mountain rental.  Plattekill is pretty excited about it.

I saw this on their website last year.

How is it working out?  Have they done any rental days?

The price went up because they offered 8 days last year and sold them all.  The one that really rings the bell is the jehovah witness group that comes every year.  Each year they book again for the next year within a few weeks after it is over.  The revenue they generate... well only a small percentage is the rental fee.  Last year the F&B was more than many times higher than the rental.  In terms of skiers on the hill it was one of the busiest day of the year.  They brought several hundred people.

Oh, no.

They own a lot of property in the New Paltz area. I got chased off one of their complexes by a mean ass looking security guard once when I biked in. He wasnt fooling around. God's wrath, I suppose.

Maybe I got the religion wrong.  I was under the impression that this group had some drinks.

They don’t believe in blood transfusions. A paramedic friend said it was a real bummer to watch a kid die one time from a car accident that could have been saved but the parents refused a transfusion.

Anyways, that was a good article. The photo of the grassy slope is kind of lame though imo. It wouldn’t have been my first choice to run in the paper.

Well, I guess you would need a drink or two before you knock on a stranger's door and talk to them about God.

Even though it's truth in advertising about recent conditions; I agree -- a counter-intuitive select from the photo editor.

I’m ok with that picture.  In the context of discussing the difficulty of the terrain at Platty, that picture does a good job of capturing the steepness, especially in relation to the base area, and it looks rugged.

From a marketing stand point, it’s not awesome for selling your product.
