Only in this forum :) I was saying I thought the quarantine was fail, hindering containment. I didn't know the gov changed his mind

Well consider this.... Animals and insects can get Ebola. I read a WHO publication that stated this. If the virus gets in their population it will be endemic (self sustaining) on our continent. Rats can get Ebola. What if the rat population of NYC gets infected ? Their droppings and thousands of their infective corpses could infect thousands of people. What if the birds or domestic fowl get it ? Our cattle, pigs ? People can get Ebola from handling infected meat. What if the insects on our continent get it ? There's no way to quarantine these species. None. Once it's out there, we can't un-ring that bell. One thing I don't understand is why can't people be tested upon re-enty to the US ? Is it possible that recently infected people may not have enough virus in them to be detectable ? If so, quarantine them. WHO last week raised their recommended quarantine time from 21 days to 45 days. Why ? 95% of Ebola cases show symptoms in 21 days. BUT 5% take longer. That's a huge gap. " Opps. Sorry ! You were infected by someone who was outside of the normal window. Many others were, too " If this gets out, there will be many people who don't go to the hospital until their viral load is high, like Mr. Duncan in Dallas. He died and infected others. With Ebola's symptoms being so very similar to many other common ailments, people will think " It's just the flu, stomach bug, cold, bad food etc " until they're very sick, highly contagious and dying. Once they start vomiting at home, the family's at risk. Not enough is known or made public yet about this virus to be taking any chances. The vast majority of people in the healthcare system still think Purell will disinfect their skin from Ebola when it doesn't. Go to any hospital, doctor's office, etc and you'll very quickly see the outright prevalence Purell plays in our defense against spreading infections. Upside is so far we've been successful treating most cases here. This does however come with a large price tag. Do we really want to have to treat thousands and thousands of people or possibly have to destroy millions of livestock animals if we can just keep it out of the nation in the first place? |
It's probably a coincidence that the people who are fearmongering most about Ebola are the biggest idiots I know.
Probably just a huge coincidence. |

Being cautious with such a deadly virus is hardly fear mongering MC2. You're just repeating the boob bait the media spews to get dumb asses to swallow their self aggrandising tripe.
How often have these media idiots recently said the following " You can't get Ebola from being in close proximity to a person who has Ebola." ? Really Sherlock ? Yet there are tens of thousands of people who have caught Ebola in just that situation MANY OF THEM FULLY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS IN FULL PROTECTIVE GEAR !!!!! DUH !!! Who da dumb dumb now ? Hope you don't catch Ebola following their dumb azz advice. You really should have joined the Scarecrow when he visited the Wiz MC2. The news and it's " experts " say all kinds of blatantly stupid stuff. Take the Fukeshima reactor disaster in Japan. Talking heads, TV fools and many experts were all over the tube.... " It's radiation cannot reach the US. It's simply not possible. No way. It will never happen " That was all over the TV. MANY said it. Yet lo and behold, it was very soon on the west coast and 2 days later in New Hampshire. |
Haha. Wow.

Here's what I understand happened, looking for some kind of confirmation online: The nurse was given the ebola test when she arrived. The current test takes 2 hours for results. (Apparently they are getting close on a test that will be done in 10 minutes.) I believe during the 2 hours she was given a temperature scan test (where they never touch your body with the thermometer) that came up two degrees high. Apparently if you are emotional that kind of reading can be artificially high. As a nurse she new this and insisted on a regular thermometer which she got and it showed her at 98.6. After her normal temp and the ebola negative, the state wanted her to stay at University Hospital for 21 days. In her view, this decision was not based on anything real.

Actually, there have been less than 5500 cases reported worldwide since the outbreak began. You need to calm down. |

If your end of the world scenario were true, wouldn't all of West Africa be dying of Ebola now since the bird and rodent populations over there must all be infected by your reasoning? |
I'm thinking a 21 day hospital quarantine for every returning health care worker isn't cheap. I wonder who pays for it
|
The NJ quarantine details have not yet been made public by "Dr" Christie's staff. Detaining a person due to some secret, unpublished rules is against the law. How does the detained person handle food, family members, job and financial obligations? What happens if the person is just passing thru Newark Airport? New York State has published guidelines. |

Absolutely wrong oh narrow minded one ! Those are just numbers of the current outbreak. There have been other outbreaks over the years thus the true numbers are higher. You need to expand your horizons. |
Shut up dipshit, I did state "since the outbreak began". Do you think when I wrote "the outbreak" I meant something other than "the current outbreak"?
Here are the actual numbers you stupid fucking bedwetter: http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/outbreaks/history/chronology.html You don't get anywhere near "tens of thousands" even going back nearly 40 years. You're dumber than I tell people. |

Man this is too easy ! Like shooting fish in a barrel..... Absolutely wrong oh narrow minded one ! If your denial disposition held any water, wouldn't all of North America be infected with West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, Lyme disease and a whole hosts of other diseases known to be endemic in our animals/insects and transmitted to humans from them ? Hmmm? If you have denial issues with the fact that animals contract then spread Ebola, you need to take it up with WHO and reality itself, not me. Go scold reality Marc. See how well that works for you and then report back to us please. I didn't paint an " end of the world scenario ". I laid out some facts that perhaps people were not aware of. If the truth and knowledge scares you or are beyond your comprehension that's not my fault. In these situations, knowledge/information is a good thing, it's not fear mongering or an " end of the world scenario ". |
Hey ass face, deal with me before moving on to having your teeth stomped in by somebody else. Either explain the basis for your statement that "tens of thousands" of people have contracted Ebola from being "in close proximity to an infected person" or shut the fuck up. Oh wait a minute, there was no basis for that statement - you simply pulled it out of your ass. In that case, just shut the fuck up. You're the same asshole that posted that skiing powder was "not that enjoyable really" and then tried to claim that you meant something else. You also drolled on and on about nautical charts and other crap only to reveal later that you own a chicken shit pontoon boat; the ugly stepchild of the boating world. You really are a fucking douchebag. |

Easy enough.
From your link...... " *Numbers reflect laboratory confirmed cases only. " AND like you it's old, inaccurate data Einstien.... " March 2014-Present Multiple countries Ebola virus 5481* " That's off by thousands Albert. Many, many other cases in Africa are unreported. Disagree genius ? Read on... http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/ebola/article21085134/?cmpid=rss1 " In the latest official report on Tuesday, the WHO said it had counted 8,914 cases of Ebola and 4,447 deaths in the three countries. But it acknowledges that the official numbers are a vast underestimate of the true situation. Many analysts believe the correct figure is about 2.5 times greater than the official numbers. " Hey looky there Albert !....A VAST UNDERESTIMATE !!!! http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs103/en/ " The virus is transmitted to people from wild animals and spreads in the human population through human-to-human transmission. " Hey looky there Albert !......HUMAN-TO-HUMAN TRANMISSION !!!! Now that I've established the basis for my statements let's review your statements.... " Either explain the basis for your statement that "tens of thousands" of people have contracted Ebola from being "in close proximity to an infected person" or shut the fuck up. Oh wait a minute, there was no basis for that statement " So, swallow your pride Albert, ( no doubt you're good at swallowing ) and follow your own advice...Shut the fuck up. Now, a quick and easy test for even you Albert...Guess who doesn't have Ebola ? The answer is those who have NOT been in close proximity to the virus. Yep. I have a pontoon boat. Like many other things you don't know, pontoons are the largest growing sales segment of of the boating industry. Why ? Because they're AWESOME and obviously most everybody is way smarter than you. Need more proof of your dumb assness ? OK ! Easy enough ! Your the one who stated the 70 miles of latitude and many feet (thousands!) of elevational difference couldn't possible create a difference in snow conditions. Yea sure! OK ! LMAO !!! Stay on the porch you little wet nose puppy at least until you're paper trained and not pissing all over yourself. As far as kickin my teeth in, you're more than welcome to try any time. Punks like you are always easy to defeat. |

What is your basis for the bolded statement? I like how suddenly you've abandoned your weak argument that you weren't referring to only the "Current outbreak" and now want to use an estimated multiplier from the WHO: 2.5 So let's use it. 8914 x 2.5 = 22285. That's not a firm # (the firm # is less than 9000) - it's an estimate, and perhaps not an irresponsible one - but it's the only way you get (barely) to your "tens of thousands" figure. And we both know that's not what you meant when you made the statement. You were just spewing, like you always do. Look at Assface walk it all back. That's not what you said. Of course everyone who gets the disease has been in "close proximity to the virus". How else would they have contracted the disease? That's a silly tautology. Here's what you actually wrote and which I challenged: That's completely different. Merely being in close proximity to an infected person, without more, does not put you at risk of infection. Listen, you're a dumb fuck, okay, and screaming in ALL CAPS isn't going to change or cure that. You can't even keep your story straight - just like the "Powder is not that enjoyable really" incident. You post something dumb, get challenged, flail around, scream and yell, and then try to walk it back and pretend that you said something different. I'm going to make it my job to torture you in here from now on. |

No Assface, we've been over this. There were other people at West that day that posted in the same thread and said the skiing was great. Classic Assface trying to rewrite history. The last time I slapped you around about this you ran away for two or three weeks, remember? I do. |

What is your basis for the bolded statement? UH, it's on the next lines Albert, where it's stated the cases are 8,900 ish. So, 5481 IS off by thousands. Man, you are truly dumb. While you're trying to get paper trained trying learning to read, it may improve your critical thinking though that's highly unlikely. Hahaha. |
