Before the "only go out in an Emergency" time starts on Sunday night, I wanted to get at least one more ski day in. So I decided to walk the dog up at the NC Ski Bowl... With skis on my feet.
The original plan was to start at the Gore Base, but we were shooed away from there. So, the Ski Bowl Park was going to be the spot. Got there at the crack of 11:15. We skinned up Peaceful Valley (had to step over some grass right before the Eagle's nest intersection... Oak Ridge was probably the better play ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).
Thought about going up pipeline and doing something off the North Chair or Darkside... But that's a lot of walking, and the top of the Ski Bowl was closer:
Grabbed a quick snack. There was a guy running snowmobile laps, and he brought up 2 separate dudes while we were sitting there. Definitely a quicker way to go up than we did.
Anyway, we headed down:
Conditions were surprisingly nice. Creamy goodness in the sun, firm (but edgeable) in the (few) shady parts. Skier's left was mostly in the sun and mostly silky.
Got down to the bottom and called it a day.
For those concerned: I drove myself in my own vehicle. I did not stop on my way. We maintained social distance the whole time (except when we had to pet the dogs). We skied a trail within our ability level that we knew very well. The only possible virus transmission pathway was that I gave my buddy a beer out of my cooler. If that beer turns out to be the start of the Zombie Apocalypse, you can all blame me.
