North Creek Ski Bowl, NY: 2/15/15

Ski Day 25: The day was forecast to be dangerously cold. And it was chilly. But at the North Creek Ski Bowl, winds never really materialized.  I had to wait for a moment for old glory to stretch out...

The forecast practically demanded skiing at Hickory again on Sunday. But I was whipped from Day 24, and opted for a mixture of groomers and trees at the Bowl. Really trees, mostly.

At the lift, Don said to me ... "good call Harv. Lifts at that other mountain are on hold."

He was right.  The Bowl was sheltered from the wind. The only steady wind was at the very top of the mountain.

On my first run I was the only one skiing.

At the ski bowl often there is true, untracked cord at first chair. Without a mark from snowmobile or patrol.

Perfect Cord, trust me it's there.

Moxham was groomed with snow on top. A bold and brilliant move IMO. That trail is pure fun.

Three inches of snow was enough to make it fun the first time through the steeps.

Snow had blown in the troughs and skiing under the lift on 46er was nice too.

Burnt Ridge was down all day. Regardless, we never considered leaving.

The steep stuff was skiable and lower angle stuff was really fun.

We took off at 1:30.

I headed back to warm up with some kick and glide in our woods.

Great PM nordic ski with some sweet trail breaking by a ranger on Voiles.
