OT - Buying Onions

ml242
Lately it seems that every time I buy an onion it has a rotten spot, whether I get it at the market, a chain store, gas station, or a farm stand. What gives? How do you guys get good ones? Should I just buy more than one at a time and hope for the best?

For context, this seems to be a bigger problem with red onions than white or yellow.

I buy them in bulk in those 3 pound or 5 pound bags. Usually don't have any problems with bad spots.

You had to make it political didn't you. Next Z will be blaming the onion problem on Bernie. Matt will say it's all because Trump is running and everyone else will blame it on Global warming.

We like our vegetables soft up here. It is our British heritage, everything must be boiled.

we get all our veggies through local farm up here.  first planting of onions, garlic took a beating because of all the june rain.  almost have the first plant had to be plowed back under....  def need to squeeze the onions like squeezing a boob to see if their is any soft spots...

Makes sense, I'm gonna make sure they're as firm as fake ones from now on.
