Like many of you i had an uncle survive D day and then fight in the Battle of the Bulge and the the Battle of the Remagen Bridgehead ( the last bridge over the Rhine ) . I also had a colleague at the college who did this . He enlisted at 17 lied about his age and was with Patton . BOTH men survived . Both never talked too much about it .
My wife's uncle island hopped with MacArthur in th ePacific campaign and freed The Phillippines . We just buried him a year ago with full military honors . We owe these men and women so much . They are deserving of the title " The Greatest Generation "
These Quiet , humble people just gave their all to preserve our freedoms then came back home and BUILT this nation into an Industrial giant
