Things are coming along nicely. We finally got a few inches of real snow.
Also snowmaking temps so the hill was lit up pretty good
There’s still not a ton open, including some of our favorite trails, like Blockbuster...
And Plunge...
And The Chute too, which was really disappointing cause it’s a very cool little trail
FYI, there are some bits of chainsawed tree trunk near the top of Ridge Run, skiers’ left. There’s enough snow that they blend in with their surroundings but not enough to get you over them so look out.
Of course we made the best of it
Stopped for lunch
It was pretty cold so I tried out a new pair of mittens. They were extremely warm and I got used to the glove/mitten hybrid design but I think they seemed a little loose so I may order another pair one size smaller. They’re also too bulky to get my pole straps on and off easily but that wasn’t really a big deal.
Overall it was a great day. The snow was good. Coverage in the spots which haven’t gotten snowmaking was somewhat thin so we mostly stayed out of the trees. The mountain is not yet prime but it’s primed to get prime. Hopefully it stays cold so they can keep the guns running and flesh things out a bit. And hopefully Mother Nature will help out; a decent storm will open everything.
Yea ah I should have said I did still manage to find some quiet turns here and there. It wasn’t completely churned up. Friday must have been pretty great
