....from the top of Bearpen July 19, 2015:
We were in the area so we hiked up Bearpen. It was a little hazy but the view to the west off of the northwest side of Bearpen still gave us views of Platty. And, we were pretty much facing right at Block from our vantage point.
Here is one of the original Bearpen ski trails. It is pretty much facing due north. It was fully grown in with brush but still clearly visible.
James was right, the sides of the trail are lined with delicious ripe raspberries. The blackberries we found down at lower elevation weren't quite yet ripe enough.
This morning looking west from Prattsville with Bearpen in the distance and fog in the valley.
By the way, Plattekill looked beautiful in full, lush summer green on Saturday.
The Music on the Mountain Clam Bake was really fun. Live music, tasty beer and ski friends. Nothing could be bad about that!
The learning area work is progressing and looks like its going to be great. They moved the fence further up onto Freefall to get a longer vertical run on the bunny slope for the new carpet.
I am already looking forward to my next visit to Platty in a few weeks.
