The criminals that run the Olympics have not gone to a site rotation because they love to get bribed when they get various countries bidding on future Olympics.

Any entertainment event where the bosses are paid and the performers are not paid is out and out thievery of talent. In addition to the Olympics some other examples are the NCAA, major jr hockey in Canada, and summer college baseball leagues. This is the perfect business model where the labor, which is the product, is free.

HBO Sports has a must watch program about the Olympics in rotation right now. I will be hard pressed to watch the Olympics.

I'll be watching!

Agree that the $ structure is problematic, but if there was no Olympic committee and no Olympics, I don't know how towns like Lake Placid would continue to have a training related revenue stream.

The fact is, I don't think there's a very big market in this country for events like doubles luge, or biathlon, or even ski racing (just as there isn't a very big market for women's college volleyball or men's college rugby). The only thing keeping these sports going is the Olympics (or, in the cases of college sports, the money making basketball and football programs subsidizing the money-losing sports).

I'd love to see a world where the athletes, not the bosses, get paid. But I'm afraid that it would drastically decrease the number viable events and leave a lot of people hanging out to dry.

I saw the interview Dan Patrick DD with Trasher.  She has such a posture vibe and great bubbly personality.  Great shooting!

The road cycling race was crazy.  That course was so dangerous on the decent with super narrow roads and huge cement curbs.  They put up some plastic wrap but added all these posts to support it.  A bunch of riders just ended their season with injuries.

That was a brutal crash.  There were many bad ones in the men's race as well.  That decent was super dangerous with those cement curbs.

Golf and Tennis were great today: match ups of the world's best playing at the tops of their games. Track is fun to watch, too. Bolt remains awesome:

Oh, and also Ryan Lochte was robbed at Gunpoint, if you want to focus on the negatives.

Dirk Van Tichelt won the bronze in the men’s 73kg judo event on Monday and then got his ass handed to him by a hotel receptionist later that night.
The Belgian medalist was elated to make the podium on August 8 in Rio so went out to celebrate on the Copacabana beach and got into an altercation with a hotel worker.
Van Tichelt believed the man was hiding a woman who had stolen his training partner’s phone, but unfortunately for the 32-year-old the hotel receptionist was an expert in jujitsu.

I was not big on this Olympics coming in.  The visuals on TV have been great from Rio so I see why NBC would have wanted it and it's a plus it's close to eastern time so everything is shown live.

Golf was awesome from my view point.  Been watching swimming and beach volleyball too.

I have not seen much of the bay sports where the water is disgusting.  Have heard of numerous muggings.  I still stick by my idea that there needs to be a permanent rota of at most 4 sites so developing economies  don't waste thier money on non Essential infrastructure

Funny.
I have never watched sailing on the Olympics - I never knew they raced Lasers. I raced lasers back in the 70s on the Chesapeake when I was living inside of the beltway sewer. Cool to watch them. Funny commentary.
