RIP Jimmy Bad Meat

Two years ago today a college classmate of mine was killed in a skiing accident on Mt. Hood. He was skiing with some buds after work at the local hill and at the end of a run he didn't make it back to the chairlift which was unusual because Jimmy was almost always beat everyone to the chair. He hated to be beat by anyone when he was skiing. You were never waiting for Jimmy. He was such an awesome dude and his spirit still serves as inspiration for me. I think of him every time I boot up. He was one of those guys who was a friend for life the minute you met him. I don't think there is anyone on the earth that held ill will towards him. He had a zest for life that I can only aspire to. I got to ski with him and some old college buddies in Utah about 2 months before the accident. We didn't have great snow, but its a trip I'll never forget.

Anyway I share not hoping for condolences but to remember a good man and hopefully pass on some inspiration to others to live life to its fullest. You never know how long you get. Go Big or Go Home!

So sad for his kids.  I'm going to go home and hug the shit out of my girls and cherish every second on the slopes with them this weekend....as I try to do every weekend.

Maybe I shouldn't be, but I'm curious as to what happened to Jimmy that he didn't make it down the mountain alive.  

....and now I know.  Fatal head injuries from collision with tree, while wearing a helmet.

Nobody saw what happened so nobody knows for certain. He hit a tree that was literally in the middle of a trail. They had a ton of snow so he could have gotten too close and got snagged by a tree well. For a skier of his caliber (10+) it was a freak accident for sure.
