Required reading for aging skiers

Sick Bird Rider
It doesn't matter how old you are, you are aging. Some of us faster than others. Heed these words from Klaus Obermeyer, a happy guy still skiing in his 90s:

“The secret is to stay in shape,” he says in a thick German accent. “If you don’t use your muscles or bones, nature will take it away because she will think you don’t need it anymore.”

I met Klaus at a ski shop in NJ annd wound up winning a prize for producing the oldest Obermeyer product anyone in the area could come up with. This was years ago. He let us chose any article of clothing from his product line and gave us a signed pic of himself. I'll scan and post the pic if I can find it. Nice to hear he's still skiing.

Very true and is one big reason I gave up the season pass and bought the skins, snow shoes, and crampons.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

Great article. Or more accurately, decent article about a guy with a great story, and attitude.
