Rock Skis

On Friday I will start with my primary skis and then go to the "other skis" if bumps start to form on the sides of the trails where going into the vegitation for a turn or two is possible...that or we get enough snow to "try" the pow...by the way, my other skis, after skiing insane powder for a few hours, were taken off in the lift line to check the bottoms...the 3" of edge at a right angle was better discovered at the bottom than at the top...or worse, on the ride up...but they are great skis and live to ski on...

I say trash your skis as fast as you can for incentive to buy new boards.

Are you really going to buy new boards if you have "non-rock skis" without any damage?

I agree with tjf core shots are not that bad but a blown or broken edge is a bummer

I have usually 3-4 skis so the oldest is my rock ski which will then get more banged up once it reaches that designation in my mind. A good rock ski should nit be a race or narrower ski so I can use it in the slides or boneyard glades

Especially the offset edge repair; don't tip'em, just sit back and rip'em.  Almost as functional as my Volkl P9s from '87 with the rivets in one tip, superglue/ducttape on the other tail and both corkscrewed like a politician.  

I don't use them anymore.  I'm willing to let them go for a good price, so I can afford to school Mattchuck yet another season.

It's Frankenski!  I sorta like it.  Do the screws provide some sort of structure (for the petex or JB Weld or whatever you stuffed in there) to adhere to or are they to provide support for that mangled edge?  Or both?  It looks like that mess is right below the heelpiece where it will take maximum abuse; how in the hell has that not blown out?

It's actually closer to the toe piece but almost right in the middle.  It is now currently a right ski only and when it is ready to be burned it will be...but it is not ready yet...sort of like me
