I’ll play, too.
1 - 11/11/18 - Kissing Bridge on fish scales. 4 laps on 12” of heavy and wet snow. 2 - 11/23 - Gore on Black Friday. Dark Side and Straight Brook aú naturalè. 3 - 11/24 - Gore round 2. Showcase was in better shape than the day before, summit opened earlier. Hullabaloo! 4 - 11/29 - KB North. Tried a lap at Buffalo Ski Club but the breakable crust was real thick. Drove to KB for 5 laps of boot deep in the dark. 5 - 11/30 - Holiday after work. Picked up my pass. Cruised solo and then with a rotating cast under lights. Good snow on Yodeler and Mistletoe, both skiers right. Some tree skiing on residual light from the runs also. 6 - 12/1 - Ellicottville combo. Uphill laps in the morning on groomed snow at a resort that hadn't opened yet then rode lifts for an hour or so at HV. 7 - 12/7 - Kissing Bridge. Skiing on golf balls. One run open. Gross. 8 - 12/8 - Holiday Valley. 5" overnight on top of 5-6" a couple days before. The non-sanctioned stuff was untouched. Trees were good in spots, bad in others. 9 - 12/12 - HV after work. Crusty. 10 - 12/15 - HV. Skin laps before opening. Demo day with some borrowed alpine boots 11 - 12/16 - HV slush at night. 12 - 12/24 - HV XMas eve with Dad and Laird 13 - 12/26 - HV in the morning 14 - 12/30 - HV granular on ice at night. 15 - 1/5 - HV. Bluebird with a great crew. Spring skiing on white ribbons in January. 16 - 1/6 - HV. Some granular on a lot of ice at night. 17 - 1/10 - HV. 16” storm Wednesday to Thursday. Leftovers after work. Some nice fluff on the sides but it was mostly contaminated with heavy base building man made snow. Every gun in the place was on full blast. Good for the future but bad for that night. 18 - 1/13 - HV. Ski with dad and a bunch of friends that happened to be there for the Sunday night ski/bar party. 19 - 1/15. HV. Ski club chaperone. First week. 20 - 1/19. Squaw Valley. 5’ of snow in 4 days preceding. Above freezing with spring conditions 21 - 1/20. Sugar Bowl. Heavy storm skiing. 22 - 1/21. Squaw Valley. Showed up at noon and caught some untracked in the woods fun soft bumps everywhere else. I love that hill. 25 - 1/31. Gore. Storm leftovers. Low single digits all day. Whole mountain was in great shape. 26 - 2/1. Whiteface. Very firm. Very cold. -15*f at the summit. 27 - 2/2. Gore. 100% open and soft. Trees in great shape. 28 - 2/3. Gore. More of the same. Very good. 29 -2/5. HV. Ski club chaperone. 35*-25* over the course of the evening. Mediocre. 30 - 2/12. HV. Ski club. Rain. 31 - 2/17. Alta. Mostly leftovers from the previous big snow day. Caught a couple of hike-to terrain rope drops with pretty good timing and made a lot of great turns. 32 - 2/18. Powder Mountain. Limiting ticket sales makes for great skiing. Bluebird day and still plenty of snow. 33 - 2/19. Snowbird. They reported 5”. There was easily a foot at the base but only 2 or 3” up top. Really great day with not that many people. Pretty much fresh lines all over all day. 34 - 2/20. Snowbasin. 15” reported over night. Definitely more at the top with this one. Best snow of the trip so far. Full storm up top and clear at the bottom. 35. 2/21. Snowbasin. Bluebird. John Paul and the Tram opened which had been closed on the day before. Fresh tracks all day long. No one was there, no lift lines. All time. 36. 2/22. Snowbird. An honest 4”. Little Cloud and Mineral Basin most of the morning. Cirque traverse off both sides a couple times then all the way to the boundary lookers right and tight tree lines to the car. Great trip overall. 37. 2/26. HV. Ski club 38. 3/2. Poverty Hill NELSAP recon. Fun trails and challenging upside down snow. 39. 3/9. KB. 45* and sunny. 40. 3/12. HV. Ski club. Frozen granular and sunny. First time ski club has gone past daylight savings. 41. 3/20. Buffalo Ski Club. 45* and sunny, uphill after work for 10 or so laps. Corn. 42. 3/23. Sugarbush. 26" fresh. Parked at Ellen and it was closed for wind. Skinned up Lower FIS. Drove to Lincoln and skied 11-4. Pretty insane lift lines. Lawsons Famous. HotElement in the lot. 43. 3/24. Sugarbush. Skied the untouched at Ellen from the day before. Really wind affected but great once it was cut up. Turns of the day were in the sheltered Brambles woods. Temps from 25-40 over the course of the day. |
So far for me:
1 - 11/23 - Gore - Great laps on Lower Steilhang, Darby, and Hulabaloo 2 - 11/24 - Magic - Awesome to ski pretty much everything in November and 0 damage! Lots of powder Hope to make #3 Gore this weekend if I can get shovel duty wrapped up by mid-morning tomorrow. |

Looks like I am bidding my time. Seven days, got off to good start, but will be below average unless next weekend is good.
If I start the new year with 15 days, I'm usually on a good pace for my benchmark flatlander 35 day season.

Too hard to tell now.
I looked at my data from last year. I only skied 6 days before the new year. And that started on the 12th of Dec. Not looking good to match that this year, but there's still a few weeks. One storm could put that back on track. I wound up with 29 total. |

Bumping this up because the thread getting hard to find to make updates. Up to 26 days total after two weeks at Taos in the last month. Next trip is to Montana, with a stop at Grand Targhee on the way.
The big first for my last trip was hiking to ski off the Highline Ridge at Taos. Definitely better to go with an instructor the first time. The effort was well rewarded given the recent snowstorm that meant knee-to-thigh deep powder in the trees up high. Nice to know that I've gained enough deep powder experience so that I really don't need to rent powder skis. My Stormrider 85 skis did just fine. |

I will be adding 4 more new areas 2/21-2/24 along with a few more trops to Caberfae Peaks |
Hmm, I'll try to play though I don't track it too well, certainly no dates.
Blue, Belleayre, Windham, Platty, Bryce, Laurel, Hidden Valley, Liberty all one day each (8). Four of those new to me. Whitetail 3-4 times/week since week 1 (25?) and a couple local terrible xc "sessions" before any lifts started spinning in Fall |

Some good stuff here. I've got 25 days, so after a slow start I'm thinking I might get my 35.
Some really good skiing, but still haven't had an off the hook pow day.

Day 36 today. Did two early in Dec at Gore, one at Belleayre (courtesy of WME), the rest at Magic. I expect to get to 40 without any extraordinary effort.
