I've visited a number of the towns mentioned, and am dumbfounded that Girdwood, Alaska was mentioned. There's nothing in that town. I can agree with Whistler, Vail, Aspen, and even Lake Placid. Regardless, it was an interesting look at ski towns.

If Ellicotville and Holiday Valley aren't ranked, then it can't be legit.
Right. Not to mention they skipped Glens Falls. Bogus.
I stand corrected....

West Mtn in the top 9 East coast ski areas !?

"This isn’t about West in particular, this is about the countless small ski areas that dot the Northeast.  This is the type of place that so many kids get their start at, and coincidently where I learned to ski."
"This is pure snow! Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?"

Telluride and Crested....in my book.

For a ski town, I say you should not have to drive to ski, generally.

Did a few tours of the Laurentians (sp) in Quebec....can't recall the names but those were fun tiny ski towns.

Chamonix,    TOPS.
