NAPLES, N.Y. (AP) -- A skier and a snowmobiler are dead after separate accidents in New York's Finger Lakes region. Sheriff's deputies in Ontario County tell the Democrat and Chronicle, of Rochester, that a 54-year-old man died Friday night after he skied off a trail and struck a tree at the Hunt Hollow Ski Club in Naples.
Authorities identified him as Paul Shiffer, of Fairport. They said he was an experienced skier and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
In Gorham, a 47-year-old woman died after driving a snowmobile on to a county road and colliding with a moving car.
County sheriffs identified the victim as Shirley Minns, of Stanley.
Another snowmobiler was airlifted to a hospital in Albany Friday when he crashed into trees in Chestertown, in the Adirondacks.
