Anybody ever do this? I’m fascinated by the idea, especially the equestrian version. Can’t imagine where I would be able try it out though

How about a place where there's a lot of dope?
Sent from the driver's seat of my car while in motion.

Think cowcountry meets skihills, skijoring hotspots in  Steamboat , Jackson , Red Lodge , Bozeman and Whitefish.

Those are the places where I’ve seen people doing it. I think I need something closer to home

Do you have a willing dog? If so, all you need is the harness, rope and skis on your feet. Here is a happy Hinterlandian skijorer TD and I met one day:

No snow, no problem, take up bikejoring. A guy I know has a special bike-like scooter thing just for this purpose:

That’s a good idea SBR but the only dog I have available is a fat old lab that can barely walk to the back of the yard to shit

Well, your lab needs some company and you need a skijor dog project. Check this out, these dogs all need a home and they fly them into to New Jersey on a regular basis:

the Lab is an in law, not mine directly. I would love to adopt but the current life situation doesn’t really allow for it. That looks like a great organization though

If you don't really have the time and space for a dog, I don't think a horse would be the next best alternative ;)

Perhaps you can get the Camper to pull you around on his sled?

FWIW I've seen people with the dogs and it looks like a lot of fun.  I wish I could find a way to have a team pull my fat ass up hills so I could make sweet pow turns back down.

Yeah, I’m more looking for a dude ranch or a ski resort where I could just go and try it out. I guess it ain’t happening in NY. A tow behind a sled would be great too

JTG4eva!
You got a car (preferably 4WD)?  A rope?  Another driver?  Can you find a big empty parking lot after a snow storm?  Only thing standing between you and a skijoring good time is motivation and a big enough set of balls!

ps......what do you figure, prolly be next August by the time I see your results on Ridiculousness?

I tried it in a group clinic setting 7 or 8 years ago with these folks, in Wonalancet, NH. Maybe a similar outfit exists in the Adirondacks.

http://nesdc.org/

Using their dogs, or one of their members’ dogs.  Quick release harnesses, no metal edges allowed.

They did sled dog rides for kids and skijoring for adults. It was fun.

My pup has too much cattledog in him. Needs to constantly circle back behind me the charge ahead anytime we hike or ski.
