Smugglers Notch Extreme Skiing Challenge

campgottagopee
Holy cow!! Never knew they were doing this, what an incredibly good idea. I've skied Madonna Headwall many, many times, but NEVER like this. If you know this trail you know what I'm talking about. If you don't all I can try and explain is that it's incredibly steep, double fall line with rocks and crap all ovet the place. In the winning run (see teaser below) the air this guy takes is amazing -----imo, he has stones the size of Texas

Highlights from last year

I guess they're comming out with this years video later this week, can't wait to check it out.

I don't recall Smuggs doing this before. Makes total sense. Smuggs liftline (especially in current conditions!) is one of if not the toughest on map in bounds trail in the east, as far as I am concerned. Still not part of the STE Freeride tour, which is just silly not to involve a place like Smuggs and M1 Liftline.

To my knowledge they never have. From what I've read last year was the first year for the competition. Agree, M1 Liftline should be on any tour.

What are they judged on? Time/speed I assume is part of it.

For my own enjoyment I'd like to see these incredible skiers slow down a little and ski a "technically perfect" run.

Good stuff.

Stupidity
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

I have no idea but my guess would be speed, air, style and difficulty of chosen line
