Re: SnowBoarding in a free fall....

Oh the stories I could tell!  Sometimes I actually ski in the woods without lifts!  I own skins!  I've got a shovel and a backpack!  You could all enjoy my tales of daring-do without leaving the comfort and safety of your 8x10 cubicles!  But I've been shut down.  I feel so unappreciated.

What's a guy gotta do to blab on and on about the NY skiing lifestyle?  Move to some drab New Jersey suburb and start a blog?

Tell us the story about the time it was really cold at WF. You went up to the top anyway and then you skied down Skyward. I love that one. Please Noah please.

Well it all started, as most of these things do, at home.  I made a cup of Joe and fired up the intertubz.  WF website said some lifts were spinning and some trails were open.  "Hot damn!" I declared and then had another cup of coffee and surfed some internet porn.  At this point I was completely exhausted so I went back to bed.  When I got up again I was super-stoked!  A half day of riding lifts and  shredding the man made!  Who would believe my good fortune?!?  I made some more coffee and went on the internet to bloviate about the incredible half day of skiing I had in store.  The reaction was electric; internet skiers everywhere were feeding off my enthusiasm.  For a minute there I really felt part of some larger, greater whole.  I chatted a bit with a guy from Hoboken and another dude from Central Islip.  I could tell they were real rippers, just like me!  Then I surfed a little more internet porn and took a quick nap.   Woke up, checked in again with the internet shredders for some last minute stoke (!!!) and headed out for two hours and fifteen minutes of heart-pounding, lift served excitement.  I stopped at Stewarts to grab another cup of coffee and a greasy, cheese and powdered-egg gut bomb.  My camera froze or I would have posted a picture.   Part II to follow......

I do think ski improvements are impacting people's choice but more so I think AT gear is having an impact.  AT setups offer so much more versatility especially in the ADK backcountry.  So many flat drainages to traverse/negotiate and then there's the routes that require crampons or a good stiff boot to kick holds..

Wasn't my idea. That's from " A Hillbilly's Guide to Ski Prep ".

Page 3naught.

Snot - for when it's s'not too cold out.

Iffin it's colder, like say the cow's teats are icy on down to crick's froze over - use fumundercheese.

Crick's froze over down to shine went solid - nuttin beats cuzin Lulu's pit yeasties.

I'm dyin' to post a TR for the weekend but I'm locked out.  I can't even post it on this forum because I can't start a thread.  This story just has to be told!  What a dilemma.

Just post it in here and I'll just copy and paste it into the TR forum ---- I know people want to hear of your wicked experience. Just let me know if you'd like a new thread started or if you'd like it to be a responce to someone else.

What the heck - what are friends for

Camper, they're talking about doing a NYSBLOG get together on the TR forum.  I want in so bad!  Can you start a thread about having a NYSBLOG get together at the Face?   I'll host the whole thing.

Camp...you're forgetting NJ's process. He posts his TRs before they happen based on past experience and his unique perspective on what he believes the future holds. Remember he posted his WF opening day trip report before opening day.

Point taken. I forgot there's a method to the madness. My only fear is that the thread would get moved to "The Woodstove" which Noah can still post in, and the Snowballs would pick on me. I'm very sensitive these days.
