Hmmmm, was that before or after the Glacier came thru and carved out that massive valley |
All I can say is that I can drive to Greek on all season radials but when I go to Song I need snow tires1

Must be that Little York Lake Effect

How does the song-lab merger make sense business-wise? I can see how it would benefit skiers, as long as the season pass for both mountains is close to the single mountain price. I'm no MBA, but I don't see a ton of economies of scale here. Maybe they could consolidate marketing, but what else? Isn't daily operations the biggest expense for a ski hill? Would a single pass for both hills really translate to a big increase in overall visits for both locations?

thanks for posting, I don't feel so alone now thinking how this could be a great business move. I think jack frost/bib boulder dose that down here in peeyay but boulder is all park so the 'rents can drop of their jibhonks and head over to jf |
Could they be positioning for a buyout down the road??? Seems odd that Harris is taking over.....that Lab group has been tight for many years. Maybe that's why GP got Labs mnt op dude too last year. Will be interesting to watch what happens.

Isn't Snow Ridge still for sale and aren't they owned by the Song Owners?
(Snow Ridge has been for sale for $990,000). Guess NOT: (recent couple of years Song and Snow Ridge seemed to honor each others seasons passes) "Harris has spent nearly his entire career in ski center operations. He owned and operated the Snow Ridge Ski Area in Turin, N.Y. from 1986 to 2006. He purchased Song, located in Tully, in 2000." |
Snow debate aside, (I agree I dont need snows to go to greek)
The sirus ishue in hand 1) yes pass holders benifit but is their gonna be a price hike next year? 2) if the pass remains the same with aceptable inflation will greeks marginal pass holders jump ship (maybe a 1/4 but probly less) 3) does this change the food at lab and song, and food prices ( wss affordable and decent compaired to greeks price on combos) 4) does one area get priority sending one into dis-repair 5) can a killington ty pe area co.e I. And turn lab song and tog into some big multi resort destination ( not likly but.....) 6) all in one area management takes a hit from a dry winter do both areas close( without any compition In the area greek could run their prices insane... so greek holders would suffer if the areas closed)

does this mean a shift in LE and greek got the 200 inches |
Would mean an end to the buy early discount if greek was the only game in town,
Name the areas plaged by no snow years intermount-c montage-bankrupt and sold greek peak- bsmkrupt and sold innsbruck usa- c Shumaker mountain- closed (maybe hope?) bobcat- c (not alot of hope) scotch valley-c (not much hope due to dep) Bad snow years up on expansions kill areas, greek was close to being lost at one point.... Other areas closed would mean greek could charge whatever they wanted, (Yes I am a pesimiss)

Not due to the snow |
Ain't that the truth!! |
Poor mqnqgement, a lodge that didnt need to be built, but the snow didnt help ethier, bettween the price and poor season they didnt get the out of towners that they thought they would,
Then the bank thing happened, guess it was the perfect storm, ( though any of the factors would have done it Why has lab not run into as many ishues as greek? Its been about what it should be about, the skiing, all the resort crap is un needed to the local crowd and maybe a little luck
