Brady and the Pats were very shrewd in setting the terms of the contract extension he signed two months ago. Seems he was expecting the suspension to be reinstated. Brady was set to make a base salary of $9m this upcoming season. Under the terms of the new contract he'll only have base salaries of $1m this season and next. The new contract included a $28m signing bonus however, and $41m in new money that is backloaded on the final two years of the deal.
Bottom line, if his base salary was $9m this upcoming season the suspension would have cost him $2.1m in lost salary. With a $1m base salary the suspension only costs him $239,000.
We REALLY need a proper roll eyes emoji!!
