It's been a pretty dry spring up here in the Daks. Fire danger has been really high. We will take rain.
What I'm wondering is after a winter without winter are we now going to have a summer without warm temps. It's been the coldest April and May I can recall. It snowed in LP yesterday.

Same here in central NH and the Whites. Constant fire danger warning. We occasionally get a sprinkle or even a short downpour. But we need a huge amount of rain. From a weather perspective, it has been cold and gray with very little sun. I rode my bike more in March than April and I haven't been on my bike at all in May (partly due to being sick but the weather has sucked for the most part). K is still spinning lifts on weekends despite how awful this season was but in some melt down years, they packed it in before May. The weather is just adding insult to injury... after a warm and snowless winter, we are now getting a cool and sunless spring. WTF. Tuesday is supposed to be super nice at least, too bad I'll be working sun up until sun down.

Didn't realize the north country has been bone dry..It's a soggy mess down here..At least it's suppose to be sunny for the next 2 days..Then more rain and cool weather...

If you live in a place that gets lake effect it has not been dry. It seems like the Green Mountain spine and Jay area have gotten a lot of rain when everything else is dry. Especially on weekends when I have time off, so maybe I notice it more. |
A La Nina seems to be developing in the Pacific.

I thought La Nina was not as bad as El Nino but not really that great?

I am 100% sure the Rocky Mtns will get Fucked next season, I bought a season pass to Copper & Winterpark
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

Snowmaking trails at 10k. just kidding, it'll be fun. |
What I find more disturbing is, that we are in what would be a sweet winter time pattern..
I wouldn't loose sleep over the Rockies next season, I'm sure it will be great..

Nope - it's like the old Albert King Blues song, "If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all"
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

And El Nino's are supposed to be huge for the SW but ours just died right out while the PNW got hammered. Maybe this LaNina will hit the SW? If anything I think this last winter proved that we can't really predict the weather. |
