Re: Storm Speculation: 2/24/12

warp daddy
skied Titus today in 10 inches of fresh and THEN the latest blizzard started at noon . All am it was snowing lightly then it got serious and we skied till 2:30 in damn near whiteout conditions but  damn it was fine skiing  . It was snowing very hard  on the way home and the roads were god awful with many vehicles off the road  but the skiing made up for it.

Another 8-12 is expected by tomorrow am . Got home an had to plow the driveway snowing hard now . Titus will be fine for the rest of the season . This was just what was needed . We had skied it Monday and though the rains may end the season prematurely BUT NOT NOW

ausable skier
Noaa WF 380 foot point forecast reduced to 1-3 tonight and 1-3 Saturday.  This winter sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 miles from WF its only light flurries at the moment and we have 1-2" total - I'm calling this storm a dud but i hope i wake up in the am and am wrong.  I had planned to bring my fat skis but I think the rock skis for skiing in the glades will be the tool of choice for the morning

I've been watching the Radar . . . everything started moving real fast all of a sudden . . . I'll be at Gore tomorrow, hoping for something good.

Check out the blog home page for a real LOL ... somebody is accusing JASON of being an optimist!  J called for 6 inches when NWS had like 2 feet.

My guess: Jason's call was good.  Plattekill has been getting lake effect since about 10pm last night, and they'd had 3-4" before the mixed precip. (check the webcam when the sun comes up). Gore had 5 inches when I hit the sack last night at 11 and it was snowing lightly. Whiteface was reporting 6 inches when I last looked. I'll bet a donut that NoVT is at the high end of Jason's call or beyond.  This mornings radar:

Jay Peak is claiming 12-15 inches overnight and still snowing this morning. I have sources on the ground who can verify. Eight inches yesterday in the Hinterlands. Woo hoo! Except I have to work today

Looks like NoVT and the Eastern Townships did alright by this one. From this morning:
