Looks like another system will take a similar track as last Friday's storm. Not as intense as that system, it should still drop a decent amount of snow. My first guess would be in the 6-12 range. Thurs will be the best day of the week.
On Friday a low will be tracking to the Great Lakes, ahead of it a warm and wet southerly flow will develop. So take that vacation day and get out there. The ten day is looking Very warm.
We are getting snow from a system that passes basically right through us , because of a strong surface High in Quebec. This keeps us in a North/Northeast flow. On Friday the High moves over the Canadian Maritimes , thus allowing a Southeast flow to develop.
Is there any "out" for r**n in n.NY or n.VT on Saturday or is it looking hopeless? And how bad is the wind you're talking about for Saturday and Sunday?
It would be such a shame if now that we FINALLY have great conditions the entire season falls apart.
Ben ,
the chances are almost zero for frozen on friday night early saturday . there might be some snow when the cold front passes. it will be breezy, not the gale of last weekend..
after that, the season falls apart..in the next 10-14 days, i wouldn't be surprised to see some record temps somewhere in the northeast...
Thanks Jason. I was considering bagging a Saturday/Sunday trip to n.VT due to the rain forecast for Saturday, but now I'm thinking about going anyway if there's going to be a rapid snowmelt. At least Sunday may be okay.
I guess I'll just play it by ear to see if the rainfall amounts will make skiing in the rain Saturday "tolerable" or "miserable". Le Sigh.......
LH from FIS is not calling for this warm and gloom 4cast... Saying one day or so next week in the 40s and talking about a cold front knocking on the door...
I'm going w/ LH!! Dudes been killin it all season w/ his forecasts!
Sorry Jason but your continued call for death to winter warm ups have not come to fruition......
Ensembles are starting to key in on a major thaw for the middle and back half of next week. We still have a little time to escape some of this but has the potential to be a real crusher with record breaking temperatures, maybe even 60's. The thaw would then culminate with a rain event later in the week. Also a crusher.
Just checked WFM weather. It looks like a late November early December pattern. Maybe the normal season will begin in two weeks. The way things are so whacked out, I wouldn’t doubt it.
