Storm speculation 1/25 -1/26

Saratogahalfday
The various weather sites keep spitting out some sort of winter weather event next weekend, as are the local weather folk now.

Fingers crossed.

All about the clicks baby.  Forecasting is getting ridiculous with every other person being a "Weatherman".  I prefer the old days when they spoke about it when they actually knew something of substance.

Yes, I have poopy pants over the last two storm performances.
The day begins...  Your mountain awaits.

They are talking a nice long duration storm from Saturday into Sunday morning.  No amounts yet, but it's looking good.

sorry harv
but those composite maps just aren't accurate..this past weekend's event proved that..

I never claimed they were accurate.

I use them to see where the model thinks snow will fall.

For example when I look at that map above, I think:

"Right now this model sees more snow for SoVT than Western NY."

Amounts are always overblown.

Looks decent for the Catskills as well. Fingers Crossed.

NOAA is saying "Snow" both Saturday and Saturday night for CNY, which usually means we are going to get some sort of quantity of precipitation worth measuring.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day

The models this morning show more warm air, and a mix event.  Once again we're on the edge between a big dump and disappointment.

Stay tuned..

with out a High to our north, it will not be a cold storm..that said, the 540 line stays south  of the Cats. I think elevation should still remain all snow...
not a major event

I'm not sure Jason, if we can get the ULL south of Albany, this could be a decent storm for the higher elevations from the CATS to DACKS.  Right now I favor the Gore area for the best snows....above 1500 feet.  Looks like a spring storm.

i do agree with you..it take a while to get the 540 south of the region..indeed it does look like a spring storm
and the pattern is blah
