Summer Weather (2011)

I am not a huge fan of summer.

It's a necessary evil I suppose.

A time to get some WORK done (what a concept).

Still, for the flatlands, it's been a pretty cool summer.

Got all the way to this upcoming weekend without seeing this little NWS graphic:

At work they are installing a new HVAC system..So I have minimal ventilation.  This weather is kicking the crap out of me. I am really starting to hate the summer..

NWS Excessive Heat Watch:

Statistically, on average today is the hottest day of the year. It all gets cooler from here. Think snow.

I was on the beach at 7 am at the Jersey Shore and it was HOT!! Can't imagine what the rest of the day will be like!

Finally, mercifully, some rain fell here today in the flatlands.



The first significant rainfall at my house in weeks. It was much appreciated.

More rain here in the last 24 hours than the rest of the summer to date:



We had 5 inches and a lot of other areas had significantly more.

We WERE supposed to get that up North. I was so excited for a river over 7 feet. Woulda been effin gnarly. I think we're still expecting something. maybe it'll get over 4 feet!

Yesterday the heaviest rain was coming from the south just off shore. This batch was moving parallel to the coast, up through NY Harbor and Western LI..

I was expecting to get completely poured on out on the river today... Instead I just got a nasty sunburn, a flat tire for the bus, and a warning that if I'm late to the hotel one more time, I get fired. Awesome. Apparently taking a test and getting a flat tire aren't "excused absences".
everything South of Warrensburg was reallly dark gray. It wasn't downpouring until exit 17 or so, though.

I would've added a lot more colorful language to the OMG's if I had taken that video.
