Swimming Holes

Looking for some new swimming holes to try out. I know people like to keep them a secret but if anyone is willing to share one or two I would appreciate it as a ski blog member. I'm about 15 minutes from Gore and have been to the one rope swing in Weavertown numerous times. looking for one a little off the beaten path.

Recovery op underway in Wilmington at flume from a drowning yesterday.  Still looking for the body.  

Seems like every time we have a lot of rain some idiot decides to try swimming in the flume.  You need to respect the AuSable it's s killer river.

Coach is right about the rivers. There is a big difference depending on water level. Giving away swimming holes has become pretty controversial but this is a resource that's been around a while so I guess it doesn't hurt anything to share. It's the "best swimming holes in the US" articles on FB that seem to do the most harm.

I assume you are referring to the black hole.

At some point the Dec is going to just shut the flume down to swimming period.  Seems like there is a death (or two usually trying to save the first one to go under) every summer.

The women that tried to save the guy this time narrowly missed dying as well.

I think of it as mountain life which opens it to things like which pick up is good for skiing.  Swimming holes is provably summer sports but hey it's your site so you can the shots - we reserved the right to complain about it though.

I can see this in Summer Sports.  There's a gray area here that I don't see on the Saratoga saleman's lunch date.

Whatever. I'm trying to organize it in a way that makes sense to me.  Not saying it's foolproof or even a system.

Seems like a rather "liberal" interpretation.

I think this thread should be a spot to put photos of swimming holes. Came across this rope last weekend. I actually find these a lot when I'm out paddling...

My take is the DEC could close it down when the flow rate is too high for safe swimming there.
