Well, I'm back with another TR. I was heading out to Mount Washington for the weekend, and looking at the reports, Cannon seemed like an obvious choice for the way out there. They had received about five feet of snow that week, and the weather was looking like bluebird and low wind. Sounds just like Cannon, huh?!
I had never been to Cannon, and I must say, it's right up my alley. Great terrain, great low key vibe, great people. Reminds me of Gore in a lot of ways, with a bit more of that NH grit.
I skied Kingsman Woods and other classic lines to start..all with lots of untracked lines...even found a little steep chute not on the map that hadn't been touched for what looked like all season...6 of the deepest east coast turns I've ever had..overhead, weightlessness. One the chute ended..tough slog back out!
A definite highlight of the day was dropping the rope of DJ's Tramline. As some of you know, this line under the tram was not originally cut for skiing, and it is super rocky, east coast techy. They've opened in a few times in the past decade...not often. So, we felt very fortunate to get to ski it in nice conditions. It's a really classic trail, and we couldn't stop ourselves from lapping it over and over.
Here are some pics, hope you enjoy:

Heading to Mount Washington for the weekend
So, next time someone tells you that Cannon is always cold, icy, and windy, just tell them that it wasn't on February 17, 2017!
