Re: The New Yawka in Arizona Thread.

It stopped snowing! We had one more real good storm after I made that edit and then we got the shit winds for over a week. Then once the winds were done destroying the alpine we had several weeks of 60 degree temperatures.

I have been totally ok with that, in fact it worked out well because I am struggling with my chemistry class this semester and if it kept snowing the way it was I probably would be failing it right now.

Seriously, it's killing me. I'm so unhappy with this crap, I really hate math. Just yesterday I had to spend 8 hours doing equations to be ready for an exam last night. Today and tomorrow will be more continuation of the struggle and hours upon hours of equations. For some I guess this stuff is easy, not so much for me. I know, I have issues. The anxiety is honestly crushing for me though.

I guess in the end the nectar will be that much sweeter?

At least you got to make that first one.....thanks agin for sharing that, I enjoyed watching it.

As for chemistry, yea, it sucks....fortunately for me my dad was one of those geek, pocket protector wearin physics majors in college, so if it wasn't for him I never would've made it thru college chem --- no way! So I feel your pain...

Always harder as an adult and with kids to remember all this stuff. I would probably fail Chem now if I retook it. I don't remember much...

Good luck RA.

Any chance you knew Jimmy "Badmeat" Malcarne, Keith Hickerson, John "Screwy" Louie, etc. from your days in Jackson? They were all ski bumming around the same time you were there.

None of those names ring a bell but it's a small town so it's likely some of us ran into each other. Did they frequent watering holes? That would really up the possibilities.

My first season I worked at the Stagecoach in Wilson. I immediately got to know a lot of people there. It was a ton of fun.

I have picked Tommy Moe up off the floor to give you an idea of the scene.

So I decided to take all of my POV shots and throw together two more edits for the season. It's all just raw pov with complete lines. I don't expect anyone to sit through all of it since the pov thing isn't anyones favorite but it's a good way to document the years skiing and to show what the skiing is really like here. I should have Part 3 up tomorrow.

So, I am in London - at all day meetings - and then you give me this!! ;)  Now I have more reasons not to work.

Looking at this shortly!

Edit Part 3. More raw footage. After about minute 3ish the rest of the vid is of my most fun line for the season down Snow Slide Springs, it's not gnarly or anything but it was super fun.

The trees there look so damn fun to ski ---- completely jealous --- our trees here never even opened up this year. Sad, very sad.

Sort of but you climb up over the ridge above the ski area and ski the backside. If the lift is on wind hold we climb up the area too. The tours are long and strenuous and you ha e to climb back out. The back country here has a very remote feel to it and we hardly ever run into anyone out there.

Do you have a touring set up?  Or you boot hike it..

You have to have touring bindings unless you are doing a car shuttle or just the first initial pitch in the cirque. The skin out from the bottom of say Core Ridge is several miles long. We go way the heck out there. Some of the lines are firsts still!

This was a first we skied last season. There are several more lines in this area that haven't been skied as well. This one is SO steep.

Dude.. That looks SO sick.

You don't hear much about avalanches in AZ but, I bet on that, it happens.
