LOL, you AzzClowns have an open invitation so head on down. Starts at 2 and goes until Sunday afternoon sometime
And no, you haven't hurt my feelings. Even tho I'm sensitive to those around me I personally have thick skin. But if we're sitting at a bar and shit goes down, I'll be one of the first ones to jump up. I may have a hard time beating TJ to it tho. |

DUDE, we built a homemade slip-n-slide once at a party. Granted nothing like that, but it was total carnage. NEVER again!!! |

Yes, great post.....but a far cry from accepting that fucked up people are going to do fucked up things. As the Meister points out, violence begets violence, and taking the fuckers out may not be the answer. But that doesn't mean that nothing can or should be done. Maybe the Meister's idea about world leaders seeking to understand and address the underlying motivations for these terrorist scumbags has some merit?
We REALLY need a proper roll eyes emoji!!

Well, I did say that really the only thing that we can do is make it harder for fucked up people to do fucked up things (like denying them easy access to weaponry). And remember, lots of Terrorists come from well-to-do, upper middle class families (look at the 9/11 people, San Bernadino killers, etc.). It's not all about economic insecurity or people struggling to get by. Yeah, sure, look for motivations, but if the solutions were easy to find, we would have found them by now. |
And I don't think that Terrorism is the "new normal" and we're all fucked. Look at that graph I put up on the first page. Terrorism has been part of our lives since we were born. The rate of terrorism is going down (but news coverage is going up). You're way more likely to get killed by lightning than by terrorists. Living where we do (not you, ml, sorry buddy), the odds of us getting killed by terrorists are infinitesimally small.
Keep living your lives, having fun, fucking around, and enjoying your friends and family. Most of this shit doesn't matter. Yes, I feel sorry for the small number of people killed senselessly, but people die senselessly in accidents, medical fuck-ups, or gun misfires every day. You have to have some emotional walls up or you'll drive yourself crazy. Care deeply about yourself, your family, and your friends, and life will look a lot better than if you start stressing about terrorism in random foreign cities. If you stress out about that, it gives the terrorists exactly what they want. I do believe that the launching of misguided foreign wars should be stopped immediately. Because then we really are sending ourselves, our families, and our friends into battle. We have to start thinking long and hard before we launch a full scale invasion of another country again. |
I'm quoting directly from an op-ed piece in today's (7/16/16) NY Times. It sums up what I think the war on terror should look like as opposed to the picture of more flag-draped caskets arriving at Dover Airforce Base:
"Life for millions of young men in the Islamic world — and in Muslim enclaves in the West — is characterized by chronic unemployment, abysmal educational opportunities, social dislocation and widespread governmental corruption or indifference. In its well-produced propaganda, the Islamic State promises the opposite: a life of camaraderie, consequence, adventure, spiritual fulfillment and a chance to create an Islamic utopia. Further marginalizing vulnerable communities — say, by subjecting them to loyalty tests, as some politicians have suggested — would only exacerbate the problem. Instead, we must work with countries in the Middle East and beyond to end the societal conditions that foster extremism. Again, we’ve long talked a good game under the banner of “democracy promotion” and other buzzwords, but we haven’t really committed ourselves. We must press hard for an end to repression and corruption, and thus make clear that jihadis do not enjoy a monopoly on rejecting failed policies. We must provide political and economic support to fill the power vacuums terrorists often exploit. We must work to improve education to give young people a better future, as well as the critical thinking skills they will need to reject the false promises of extremism. None of this will prevent the next attack, and more innocents are likely to lose their lives before the Islamic State and Al Qaeda are finally defeated. But that day will never come unless we refocus our efforts on doing what really matters." Ali H. Soufan is a former F.B.I. special agent and the author of “The Black Banners: The Inside Story of 9/11 and the War Against al-Qaeda.”

If we are serious about stopping it we probably want to stop being terrorists.
America is probably the biggest terrorist organization in the world so I'm sort taken back by the fact that anyone is surprised. You can only kick a dog for so long before it bites you. |
I agree with this. We kill innocent people with Sky Robots and we expect there to be no consequences. Yeah, life would be better if their rulers did something to help the people, but it doesn't seem like that'll be happening anytime soon. I think the better solution is: stop killing all of their friends and families. |

If I EVER have a dog that bites me, or anyone else for that matter, I'll shoot it. |
No, you have to torture the dog first.
Not because you'll get information, but because it deserves it anyway: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/11/23/donald-trump-on-waterboarding-if-it-doesnt-work-they-deserve-it-anyway/ And then, of course, you have to kill the dog's family, too (even if the family has done nothing wrong): http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/02/politics/donald-trump-terrorists-families/ |
It's ok Matt. I knew we would disagree
Again, I'm just stating my point of view. You can disagree, that's cool, but don't try and change my mind regarding this subject because it AINT gonna happen. And no, not all dogs have to be tortured to bite. Some of them are inherently fucking mean. That's the simple truth of it, just like people. |
Ya but what happens when there are two mean dogs in a larger population and we drop enough bombs to kill two thirds of that population killing innocents and destabilizing an entire region?
This isn't rocket science. |

If I EVER have a dog that bites me, or anyone else for that matter, I'll shoot it. But if you were beating the dog you had it coming |
In reply to this post by raisingarizona
Okay, you want to keep it real?? If 2 mean dogs meet they're gonna fight. No ifs and's or but's about it. Anyone who tries to stop 2 mean dogs from fighting will get bitten.
You're right this ain't rocket science. |

But if you were beating the dog you had it coming 100000000% agree. That's not always the case tho. |
