"Exciting" might be too strong a word.

"Enjoyable" is more like it.

I ran up today before work. I'm with tfj... I think my arms got more of a workout going down from the castle to the LP turn than they did going up. The fastest section was the 2" of slop that froze up.

I went up sunday.  Snowline is like a 3/4s a mile up from toll house.  I of course saw ronkon heading up when I was leaving.  He had his big fat skis and full skins.  I thought it was a bit much. Only made it to lake placid turn because i had blisters. it was pretty wet sticky snow.  it was exercise and something to do. Ron kon had a photog and posed so it does look better than it was. Of course my waxless skis arent too much fun on way down.

Wilmington turn was BARE yesterday AM. Not sure how much snow/wind they got yesterday afternoon, but there was no skiing from the castle to the lower section without skiing pavement or taking skis off. Castle was all locked/boarded up, too. The snow looked best between Wilmington and LP turns, but it was way to slow. Literally had to skate between the two. I got blisters on the insides of both of my heels. That wasn't fun for the way down. Or running around for the next 8 hours at work.

RONCON is something but it is not a poser.

The Toll Road was in pretty good shape (for October) yesterday when I took those pics. Skiable snow didn't start until about 1.3 miles past the toll booth, but it was great fun and very wintry at the top.

Ron core kon is only a poser in the truest sense!

Looks like a choice day to be in the mountains.  

"Choice" is the key word. I was anxious to ski last week, but the weather sounded windy, so I waited. It was worth it.
