Travelling from PA, Need some good back pack skiing! Thanks!

Facawi
Howdy,

Just bought a new Xterra and I'm looking for some good back pack skiing. My buddy and I are young, and we can ski anything anywhere. We are both really spoiled and get to travel around the world to some really cool spots to ski. Counter to the previous point we hate spending money, and we are looking for some cool weekend trips up north to the Adirondacks. However we don't wanna pay for a lift ticket. We plan on sleeping in the car, and we could bring up a snowmobile if needed. We would prefer to just hike up the mountain with our skis on our back and ski fresh powder the whole way down without a lift insight. I've never skied the east coast (besides the mid Atlantic... we avoid it as much as we can) , and I'm unfamiliar with the Northeast so if you guys could mention some spots I could look into that would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Facawi

I'll comment on this later...  but you should look into getting a touring set-up..
The day begins...  Your mountain awaits.

There were posts on here awhile back about a guy and the " club " he belonged to the ripped ADK backcountry for years. I think they had a book and possibly a web page about mtns and routes.

Harv will recall....how 'bout it buddy?

Thanks for the info so far guys. I'm from pittsburgh PA, and I came across the slide guide. I think if I want to do some hiking and skiing the adirondack slides will probably be my best bet.
