Trump/Republican Party United.....or Unglued?

So, with control of the White House and both houses of Congress the Republican Party could have a huge opportunity to actually move forward meaningful legislation.

Whether or not that happens will largely depend on Trump.  If President Trump is a continuation of Candidate Trump, a loose cannon with off the wall statements and positions, who continues to alienate himself from the Republican establishment.....well, his Presidency could be a shit show.

On the other hand, if olive branches are extended within the party, and Trump, Ryan and Co. can find a way to reconcile and focus on the conservative needs of the party.....perhaps Trump's crazy, yet masterful, campaign that handed the White House to the GOP could be the best thing the Republican Party has seen in a long time.

Can Trump recognize that he has zero experience governing, and put the right people around him to unite the Republican Party to accomplish legitimate, meaningful change?  Can bygones be bygones?

Interestingly enough....as I type this CNN is posing the same questions.

Bushes are giving words of support and encouragement for President-Elect Trump.

Thoughts?????

Ryan currently speaking of the Unified Republican Government that he and Trump have discussed since the returns.  He credited Trump for a brilliant campaign that capitalized on something nobody else heard or saw, and credited Trump's coat tails with extending the Congressional majorities.

That's a good start.....

Ryan is on TV saying that we need to unify - good start

Trumps cabinet picks will show us if he is going to stay on the rails.  If he starts appointing yes men that is not good.  If he appoints smart people who are experts in their subject area and he will listen to them we are moving in the right direction.  I hope he appoints some bi partisan cabinet members as well.

A Republican did not win the Whitehouse. Trump won the White House. Think of him more as an independent candidate. The Republican leadership did not support him. He used to be a Democrat. Who knows what he'll do but he is not beholden to the Republican party.

My guess is that about 10PM last night he had his "Oh shit" moment when he really realized this was going to happen. I suspect he will be putting a hand out to a lot of top people and we will not see a whole lot of cronyism - hell, he doesn't have that many friends left after the campaign.

Hence my question as to whether Trump will remain the anomaly he was during the campaign, or if, seeing as he won the White House largely on the backs of the Republican electorate, he will reconcile with Republican leadership and further a Party agenda.

Whether Trump ever really thought he would win or not is irrelevant now.  He's in, and his legacy will largely depend upon what he does with his term in office.  He just needs to figure out if remaining a rogue player is the best way to establish a lasting positive legacy.

I think he'll reign things in a bit, and still say a lot of stupid shit while trying to establish some legitimacy within the GOP.

I think Giuliani and Gingrich will be in his cabinet and that will be a shame. They strike me as political dinosaurs with an ax to grind.

Guiliani  as AG and Gingrich  as SEC State and Carson  as  Surgeon General and possibly god. Forbid Sarah Palin . CHristie will also be considered maybe as a domestic advisor or DOJ .

I agree the first two are nasty , vindictive and searching for relevancy , Sarah is simply a sock puppet .
Cory nasty Lewandowski  or the. RNC chair  Prieus are being considered for COS

I hope they aren't a part of his team too.  They are tonedeaf.  Gringrich's treatment of Megyn Kelly, and the way he conflated sex and assault were stunning, to me.

I also hoping that Christie's political baggage leaves him out.

Be interesting to see if Trump becomes a politician, paying back favors. All three of those guys desperately need jobs.

Let us not forget the he needs Senate approval for a cabinate post and the republican senators were not that supportive. My guess is we will not have whacky choices here
