What's in your.....skiing playlist?

No, sno is still a young'un and his reading comprehension leaves a little to be desired, it appears.  Before, during, or after....there are so many places skiing and music just fit.  This is about all of those places/times.

Actually, I just figured the thread would be a good way to get to learn something about the characters around here, what kind of tunes they like, maybe spark a little interesting discussion, learn 'bout some new tunage.  If that's gaper I'll wear the scarlet capital G!

I don't listen to music when skiing in high consequence back country terrain and conditions or when communication between partners is key but while doing doing solo hot laps it's amazing. And.....I don't have to get into lengthy chairlift conversations that I don't feel like being part of. Then again, I don't ski on crazily overcrowded slopes either and if I was I wouldn't listen to the tunes but this all comes down to a little bit of common sense, spacial awareness, and scene safety evaluation.

If this is a gaper thread then I am a gaper. I'm not afraid to own that, don't care either.

Music is so much like skiing. The flow, the rhythm, the mood, etc. The two just go hand and hand imo.

Don't listen to music while skiing either but it's definitely what keeps those long car rides tolerable. Lots of jazz, some classic rock and a bit of country. I've been listening to lots of Herbie lately.

Kind of agree with this. Music conversations always seem lame to me. It always seems like some people show up with the same classic rock bullshit that everyone has heard a million times before, and others show up with obscure indie bands of varying ability to establish their hipster cred. There's a lot of room in the middle, but anything that I tend to enjoy usually gets dismissed immediately or hopelessly overplayed.

I don't listen to music while skiing, but when I'm driving, I like 90s hip hop, bluegrass and punk covers, and Sirius coffeehouse to mellow me out.

I just wanted to provide some context to a possible reason why Glade doesn't like it (and why I haven't commented so far). I then added my own musical preferences because I connected with your idea of it being a way to get to know the forum participants better. And then I immediately got shit on by MikeK. And for the record, Mike, no, Big Willy Style is not in my playlist, but Nas, Black Star, Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Biggie, etc. are.

I've never seen a hipster do anything sports related unless you call riding shitty fixie cruiser bikes sports.

I got me some Grand Master Flash White Lines when kickin' it '90's style.....although I prefer to take it back to '84 and some Jam On It from Newcleus when I'm getting rap-y/hip hoppy.  Actually, the Definitive edition, from 2006, rocks out best for that one.
