That Magic pre-season edit to Zeppelin got me to thinking. Dangerous, yeah, I know.
While skiing and music can be controversial, they also go together great, whether it be before, during, or after turns. So, what's in your playlist (yes, I have a playlist for skiing), or what is your best music for around the mountain? Give me best song/artist, then give the the four artists with the most entries in your playlist/library. To keep it real, give me your one most embarrassing song/guilty pleasure. I'll go first. Best song and artist: Ramble On, Led Zep. Top four artists: Jane's Addiction Incubus Walk the Moon Fall Out Boy Most embarrassing/guilty pleasure: A little bit 'o Britney, in Scream & Shout (will.I.am). Hey, it's got a good rhythm....don't knock it 'til you try it!

Silent Lucidity, the least Queensryche of all Queensryche songs is the only Queensryche in my playlist. Back in '07 the Rock and Roll Triple Play was making the rounds at minor league ballparks. Collective Soul played with Counting Crows and Live...great show.

I like your set lists Jason. A variety of cool hard and heavy stuff. Might have to add a few to my online library.

I like me some Primus... I've seen them 3 times in the past two years.
I get on with everything from old country, soul, folk and blues to metal. I'm not so hot on pop. Modern rock I'm kind of leaning towards Jack White (White Stripes/Raconteurs), early Black Keys (I hate them now), The Roots... My guilty pleasure... this: |
Lately.....
Black Sabbath La Femme Lana Del Rey The Hundred In The Hands Beach Fossils Tami Neilson Miles Davis Lady Gaga Dave Brubeck Astrud Giberto and Stan Getz Lafayette Afro Rock Band The F#ck Buttons Francoise Hardy The XX King Diamond Waylon Jennings |

Oh dang. You picked what I think is the most difficult and advanced listening on that list. the F-Buttons are noisy and chaotic but if you give it a chance there is melody in the chaos and once you get it it's brilliant imho. One of my favorite tracks: The Red Wing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPukZ0IDkAo&index=12&list=FL4SbtsRc-ll5uFWFdSGNEag |

Some other favorites from the list....
Canadian born New Zealander transplant Tami Neilson is huge with the Kiwis for her alternative classic country music. She has the voice of an angel and if you listen to the second track on this vid of her hit single Cry Over You I think you might agree that she is giving Patsy Cline a run for her money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODB4KfDjNXA The Hundred In The Hands. This is what is produced when two talented hipsters get together to make music influenced by 80's new wave dance music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrThfQVKu-I Brooklyn based Beach Fossils have an......emo indie rock sound? I'm not exactly sure but I like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyqmSAvwUbM La Femme is a French krautrock, surf, psych-punk rock band. Sounds weird right? But it works and works well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nc2_wxtjwzg King Diamond, just because we all have a bit of a dark side so why deny it a little horror rock/Satanic death metal evry now and then. It's ridiculous but so what? Turn it up to 11 and give me your soul! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tl-N9FJMpY Dave Brubreck and his classic Take Five. I just recently discovered him and other like artists. Dang, where have you been my whole life jazz music? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHdU5sHigYQ I love the woman and the sound of the 60's so much. This track from Astrud Giberto & Stan Getz is pure ear candy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJkxFhFRFDA One more from the 60's, Francoise Hardy was so sexy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuRQl4rAajs Black Sabbath. Because Black Sabbath. This is a little shameless self promotion and a link to one of my edits and Youtube channel raisingarizona13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvFXIV7hh_I |

This is the biggest gaper thread of them all.

HAHAHA Glade on his a-game!! Never listened to any music while skiing and don't plan to. Having headphones in contributes to more accidents due to not being able to hear what's around you and strapping speakers to your jacket to blast music for the entire mountain to hear is just plain obnoxious.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

Oh... this is music you listen to WHILE skiing?
Yeah I don't do that. I can't be bothered with electronic doodads while I'm skiing... and I actually ski for the quiet. Listening to people talk on lifts makes me want to jump to my doom. |
